Services
We are developing programs for the Pioneer Valley community crossing all economic and social lines.
Community Programs
There are emerging social service needs identified in the local Jewish community in Western Massachusetts. In our Longmeadow/Springfield Jewish community 25% of households have children under 18 years of age. Many of our community’s elders do not live within a 60 mile radius of their extended family, therefore requiring geriatric care management services. We offer workshops and educational programs for individuals and families seeking a Jewish connection, both within and outside of the established Jewish community.
Counseling
JFS is known for compassionate, caring and professional counseling services. Counseling offers support to individuals, families and couples across the economic spectrum. Our clients come from all walks of life. Many people learn about us through word of mouth, because JFS has a reputation of being highly professional and trustworthy. Support groups are offered by the Counseling department.
Elder Care
Elder Care is a hallmark service of JFS, offering resources and referrals when needed. Many people count on us to help them assess and find the best ways to solve problems for the well-being of themselves or their loved ones. The changing face of our community requires a multitude of services from Guardianship and Geriatric Care Management to crisis intervention. Support to “Baby Boomers” caring for their parents, and the elders themselves, require a multitude of services, now more than ever.
Healing the World
JFS is the premier organization working with HIAS (Hebrew Immigration Aid Society) to resettle refugees from around the world to our Springfield community-- their new home. We believe that Healing the World includes, helping those that are fleeing from political or religious persecution because none of us are free, when others are oppressed.
